The Hemophilia Society Malaysia (HSM) had successfully held a fruitful event for selected youths with bleeding disorder on 24 April 2021. The two-day virtual workshop was attended by 13 participants including 3 EXCO members.
On day one, the virtual workshop began with opening remarks by the President of HSM, Mr Taqrir Akramin Khalib. He emphasised on the importance of youth participation in HSM and his aspirations for the bleeding disorder community. It was quickly followed by the first session on ‘Advocacy in Action’, delivered by Mr Mohamed Aris Hashim, who had previously served as the president of HSM and was the Vice President of National Member Organization (NMO) of World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH). Mr Mohamed Aris shared on the importance of advocacy and how it can benefit the NMO. The participants were in the end, challenged to play role as advocator of the bleeding disorder community to the stakeholders by Mr Mohamed Aris.
On the second day of the workshop, the participants were treated to another interesting topic, ‘Social Media and Its Role in Advocacy’ by Mr. Cedric Vincent from Exposureville. His sharing was exciting and beneficial to participants who are keen to learn social media tools and how we can use it in engagement with stakeholders. The participants were also exposed to Canva application, a graphic designing platform where they learned to create attractive infographics, contents and personal media kits.
With the knowledge gained and exposure to social media tools, it is hoped that the participants can play an important role in HSM in future advocacy initiatives.
HSM wishes to hold an utmost appreciation to Roche Malaysia in supporting this virtual workshop.
